Sure D

Destiny, a strong word that can be ambiguous to the mind and even heart. In life, most people often set out to fulfill their destiny. In the case of Kathy-Ann Murray aka Sure-D, she is surely destined to make it in the music industry.

Sure-D (Surely Destined) was born in Trinidad and Tobago and raised in Toronto, Canada. Her uncle Rapso artiste Jah Mortel Emortel gave her the name Surely Destined. Her candid attitude and passion for music are attributed that emit from this ray of sunshine.

If you were fortunate enough you were able to see Sure-D in action in 2014 where she acquired an opportunity of a lifetime. She was a guest performing artist at the International Soca Monarch competition. She performed at the competition with her song “Twerk It.” It was a life changing experience that reminded her with enough hard work anything is possible.

Three things keep this young artist grounded: the belief that what is for her is for her, her spirituality and having her mother as her fortitude. All three things continue to motivate her to achieve her goals as a Soca artist. Sure-D has created her own sound and style which has brought great attention to her as a versatile artist. She continues to stand out by releasing such works as “Turn Up” and more recently, “Amazing” her 2017 contribution.

Sure-D believes with enough support her music will reach higher heights. Great artists have paved the way for young innovative talent (like herself) who can further push this amazing genre called Soca!
