Hailing from the Parish of St David’s the coca duo that goes by the stage name Wusswayz Empire, emerged from very humble beginnings. They have been creating music for over 8 years. Lil Natty and Thunder’s journey to the international arena, hinges to a large extent on their level of consistency, releasing catchy, unique music to stimulate music lovers locally and the world over. With hits such as ‘Dash It’, and ‘Dirty Clothes’ to their 2016 and 2017 road march winning selections “Tek it to Dem’ and ‘Top Striker’, Lil Natty and Thunder continue to make tsunami type waves in the soca arena.
The pair has maintained their humility, however, and always avail themselves for good causes, including school functions and several appreciation initiatives. The combination has worked with accomplished producers like Shem Felix, Jamie Victor and Jude Henry. The super duo has performed with international soca stars like Machel Montano, Bunji Garlin, Lil Rick, Tallpree, Krosfyah, Destra, Kes the Band and dancehall superstars like Beenie Man, Aidonia and Popcaan. Locally they have hit every major stage and every major fete causing pandemonium whenever and wherever they step on stage. Lil Natty, real name Dingaan Henry, was born on September 6, 1982, in Caracas, Venezuela. He migrated to Grenada at the age of 2 with his parents who were natives. Henry attended the St. David’s Roman Catholic Primary School and later went on to the Grenada Boys Secondary School. At the age of 9, he took part in the National Junior Calypso competition and placed 3rd then placed 2nd the following year. After two years, Henry placed 1st in the competition. In 2000, he won his first Junior Soca Monarch title.
Thunda, whose real name is Nyelon Williams was born on September 14, 1985, in Grenada. Like his buddy, he grew up in St. David’s and attended the St. David’s Roman Catholic Primary School. Williams went on to study mechanical engineering at various training programs in Grenada. He also represented Grenada in the Caribbean Under 19-soccer competition. He started singing as a combination with Lil Natty, now both are known as Lil Natty and Thunda or more commonly ‘Wusswayz’. The two music enthusiasts, being blood relatives and steadfast friends (brethren) understood one another’s creative perspectives and decided to create music together. They joined forces in 2009 and in 2011 they created the group Wuss Wayz Empire. This group is directly responsible for the birth of several young, prominent, local Grenadian soca artists. The duo entered the Soca Monarch competition that same year (2011) and won the 4th place with their selection ‘Double Trouble’. Since then, they have entered the competition religiously and in 2013, they placed 3rd out of 16 contestants. In both 2016 and 2017, they narrowly missed the top spot placing second on these two occasions. Look out for them in 2018 and beyond!!!
